There will be no problem for setting gems or diamonds in this ring, the good gold or silver weight of this ring will allow a very firm mounting for the gems. For small size gems or diamonds sturdy prong settings would be perfect. However, if you prefer to set a few larger size gem stones or diamonds in your antique style ring, it would be better to border the entire gem stone with gold.
